VXelements is a fully integrated 3D data acquisition software that powers the entire fleet of 3D scanning and measurement technologies developed by Creaform. VXelements consists of three software modules: VXscanTM, VXprobeTM and VXtrackTM. This powerful platform summons all the necessary elements and tools into a user-friendly and intuitive working environment, while its functions and capabilities have proven their efficiency and power in the field over the years.

VXscan is entirely dedicated to the acquisition and optimization of 3D scanning data. It delivers high performance for that specific task, yet it is simple and user-friendly enough to suit any user's experience level.

Some of the key features/benefits of VXscan are:

  • Offers a surface optimization algorithm that avoids the creation of multiple scan layers and ensures a more accurate meshing without any post-treatment. The output is an optimized meshing that can be exported in all standard formats.
  • No limitation to the scan resolution: just input a resolution value, independent from the size of the scanned object. Resolution can be changed at any time before or after the scan. The software can recreate a meshing from the raw data previously acquired.
  • Surface is rendered in real time (the user can view the 3D surface as the object is being scanned)
  • The creation, from the meshing, of geometrical entities that are compatible with those generated with the VXprobe module
  • Several other functions related to the optimization of the meshing such as hole filling, smart decimation (without definition loss on the meshing), or boundary filters

The VXprobe module is the software section within VXelements that allows the user to interact with the data acquired using a HandyPROBE and share it with either other VXelements components or third-party software.

It is through the VXprobe module that the user:

  • Has access to the calibration functions of both the HandyPROBE and the C-Track,
  • Shares alignment data and positioning features with other VXelements components,
  • Performs elemental metrology functions like:
  • Simple touch-point measurement
  • Touch-point measurement of basic geometrical entities such as planes, circles, polygons, etc.
  • Geometric calculations such as angles and distances
  • Connects to other third-party metrology software
  • Exports measurement results to an IGES file

The new VXtrack module adds dynamic tracking capability to the C-Track line of dual camera sensors. It can now record 30-3D images-per-second of a reflector or sets of reflectors in real time for the study of a variety of applications involving motion tracking. Such applications include:

  • Track a robotic arm (automated high-precision manufacturing processes)
  • Track assembly operations (aerospace...)
  • Track tools path
  • Low-frequency vibration analysis (car door closing, engine block movement...)

Capture of movement (biomechanics, etc.)

The module offers a graphic interface allowing to analyse results or export data files in the current formats most widely used.
